Study: $370 Million Economic Impact from Saratoga Race Meet


Thursday is the opening day of a 40 day meet at Saratoga Race Course, a summer tradition that infuses more than $370 million into the community, according to a new study by the Saratoga County Industrial Development Agency (SCIDA).


The summer meet provides 2,900 jobs across the entire Capital Region, with the total $371 million economic impact increasing by 57% since 2014. The recent study was done based on data from the 2021 racing season.


The Saratoga Race Course owned and operated by the New York Racing Association (NYRA) contributes $7.3 million of tax revenue to the state coffers with approximately $2.4 million to Saratoga County and nearly $2.1 million to the City of Saratoga Springs.
