Open Job Rates Decrease in 26 States


Job opening rates decreased in 26 states with only two states seeing an increase in open employment, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.


The report, which focused nationally on August figures, also showed the hiring rate increasing in six states and declining in just three.


of the 26 states who saw a decline in open job rates, Michigan (-2.4%) was the lowest. Conversely, the largest increase in job opening rates occurred in Alaska (+4%), and Wyoming (+2.3%).


Throughout August, the hiring rate was highest in Alaska (+4.7%) and the lowest in Connecticut, Arizona, and New Mexico, the study shows.
