$10 Billion Partnership Focuses On Nanotech R&D



New York State has entered into a $10 billion partnership to attract research and development to Albany's nanotech facility. The center will house the "first and only" publicly owned center, focusing on ultraviolet lithography, opening the door for future advanced semiconductor research and manufacturing.


The announcement by Governor Kathy Hochul includes private investments from leading semiconductor businesses, including IBM, Micron, Applied Materials, and Tokyo Electron. 


"In addition to the transformative investment in New York’s Capital Region, this partnership will make New York State home to the nation's most advanced, publicly owned semiconductor R&D infrastructure, support the long-term growth of New York’s tech economy", according to a press release.
