Approximately thirteen million Americans experienced unemployment at some point in 2022, down more than three million from the previous year, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics.
The bureau credits a recovering labor market, post-pandemic, for the decrease in figures. Conversely, the number of people aged 16 or older who worked at some time during 2022 increased by a half percent, 64%.

The proportion of workers who worked full-time, year-round in 2022 was 71%, a 1.2% increase from the prior year.
