The average weekly earnings for 118 million employees across the US was higher in the fourth quarter of 2022 than it was during the same time in 2021, according to a new report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The average working collected $1,085 a week during the fourth quarter of 2022, a 7.4% increase from the year before.
A statistical breakdown of the data showed women's median weekly earnings were $975, or 83% of the $1,176 men earned. The highest earners weekly were full time management professionals collecting $1,729 a week for men and $1,316 for women.
Those employed in services occupations earned the least, on average, with a weekly average of $782 for men and $652 for women.
Workers 25 years old and older without a high school diploma earned $675 on average, while those with only a high school diploma averaged $875 weekly. Employees who possessed at least a bachelor's degree made $1,574 weekly, the report stated.
